Isabella Stokoe 11th Mary 1837 - 1892

Isabella Stokoe was born 11th Mary 1837 in St John Lee, Northumberland. She was the eighth and final child of William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall).

On 6th June 1841 the Census was held. Isabella Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland, with her parents William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall) and her siblings; Jane Stokoe, Ralph Stokoe, Mary Stokoe, Bennet Stokoe, William Stokoe, John Stokoe and Sarah Stokoe.

On 30th March 1851 the Census was held. Isabella Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland, with her parents William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall), her siblings; Jane Stokoe, Ralph Stokoe, William Stokoe and Sarah Stokoe and a lodger John Pearson.

On 7th April 1861 the Census was held. Isabella Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland, with her father William Stokoe, her siblings; Ralph Stokoe, Bennet Stokoe, Mary Stokoe, William Stokoe and Sarah Stokoe, her niece Jane Leadbitter and two lodger's David Dunn and Stewart Fergusson.

In 1862 Isabella Stokoe married Robert Henderson. They would go onto have six children; Mary Henderson born 1864, William Henderson born 1865, Robert Henderson born 1866, Isabella Henderson born 1869, Thomas Henderson born 1870 and Margaret Henderson born 1873.

On 2nd April 1871 the Census was held. Isabella Henderson (nee Stokoe) was living at 4 York Street, Gateshead, Durham, with her husband Robert Henderson and their children; Mary Henderson, William Henderson, Isabella Henderson and Thomas Henderson.

On 3rd April 1881 the Census was held. Isabella Henderson (nee Stokoe) was living in Broome Park, Northumberland, with her husband Robert Henderson and their children; Mary Henderson, William Henderson, Robert Henderson, Isabella Henderson, Thomas Henderson and Margaret Henderson. Isabella gives her occupation as Coachman's Wife.

On 5th April 1891 the Census was held. Isabella Henderson (nee Stokoe) was living at 9 Hardwick Street, Gateshead, Durham, with her husband Robert Henderson and their children; Robert Henderson, Isabella Henderson, Thomas Henderson and Margaret Henderson.

In 1892 Isabella Henderson (nee Stokoe) died.

Sarah Stokoe c.1835 - 30th December 1919

Sarah Stokoe was born c.1835 in St John Lee, Northumberland. She was the seventh child of William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall).

On 6th June 1841 the Census was held. Sarah Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland. She was living with her parents William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall) and her siblings; Jane Stokoe, Ralph Stokoe, Mary Stokoe, Bennet Stokoe, William Stokoe, John Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe.

On 30th March 1851 the Census was held. Sarah Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland. She was living with her parents William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall), her siblings; Ralph Stokoe, William Stokoe, Jane Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe and a lodger, John Pearson. Sarah was working as a Seamstress.

On 7th April 1861 the Census was held. Sarah Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland. She was living with her father William Stokoe, her siblings; Ralph Stokoe, Bennet Stokoe, Mary Stokoe, William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe, her cousin Jane Leadbitter and two lodgers, David Dunn and Stewart Fergusson. Sarah was working as a Dressmaker.

In 1862 Sarah Stokoe married John Scott. They would go onto have two daughters, Isabella Scott born 1864 and Mary J. Scott born 1866.

On 2nd April 1871 the Census was held. Sarah Scott (nee Stokoe) was living in Bensham Dale, Gateshead, Durham. She was living with her husband John Scott and their children, Isabella Scott and Mary Jane Scott.

On 3rd April 1881 the Census was held. Sarah Scott (nee Stokoe) was living in Saltwell Lane, Gateshead, Durham, with her husband John Scott and their daughters Isabella Scott and Mary Jane Scott.

On 5th April 1891 the Census was held. Sarah Scott (nee Stokoe) was living in Bensham Hall Lodge, Gateshead, Durham, with her husband John Scott and their daughters, Isabella Scott and Mary Jane Scott.

In 1900 John Scott died.

On 31st March 1901 the Census was held. Sarah Scott (nee Stokoe) was living at 192 Eastbourne Avenue, Gateshead, Durham. She was living on her own means.

On 2nd April 1911 the Census was held. Sarah Scott (nee Stokoe) was living at 140 Eastbourne Avenue, Gateshead, Durham. She was living with her nephew-in-law Edward  Errington, her niece Mary Errington (nee Henderson), her great nieces Isabella Errington and Mary Errington and her great nephew Edward Anderson Errington.

On 30th December 1919 Sarah Scott died at Dale Cottage, Sunnybrow, Durham.

On 9th February 1920 Sarah Scott's will was approved. She left £348 2s 5d, which in today's money is nearly £8,000 to Thomas Scott and John Whitfield, both Coal Miners.

John Stokoe 1832 - 1872

John Stokoe was born 1832 in St John Lee, Northumberland. He was the sixth child of William Stokow and Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall).

On 7th July 1832 John Stokoe was baptised at Stonecroft with Hexham Roman Catholic Church.

On 6th June 1841 the Census was held. John Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland, with his parents William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall) and his siblings; Jane Stokoe, Ralph Stokoe, Mary Stokoe, Bennet Stokoe, William Stokoe, Sarah Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe.

On 30th March 1851 the Census was held. John Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland as a lodger with Joseph Phillpson. John was working as a Groom.

On 19th September 1859 John Stokoe married Sarah Gordon at the Roman Catholic Church in Pilgrim's Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland. They would go on to have two children, William Henry Stokoe born 1860 and John James Stokoe born 1862.



On 7th April 1861 the Census was held. John Stokoe was living at 137 Fife Terrace, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, with his wife Sarah Stokoe (nee Jordan), their son William Henry Stokoe and his mother-in-law Mary Ann Jordan (nee West). John was working as a Butcher.

On 2nd April 1871 the Census was held. John Stokoe was living at 74 Clayton Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, with his wife Sarah Stokoe (nee Jordan) and their sons, William Henry Stokoe and John James Stokoe. John was working as a Butcher.

In 1872 John Stokoe died in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland.

William Stokoe 22nd Janurary 1830 - 1913

On 31st March 1901 the Census was held. William Stokoe was living in Ovington, Northumberland, with his siblings; Ralph Stokoe and Mary Stokoe. William was working as a Blacksmith.

On 2nd April 1911 the Census was held. William Stokoe was living at Lynton House, Waverley Avenue, Monkseaton, Northumberland, with his niece Isabella Leadbitter and his brother Bennet Stokoe. William was a retired Blacksmith/Old Age Pensioner.

In 1913 William Stokoe died.

Bennet Stokoe 10th August 1927 - 6th March 1915

Bennet Stokoe was born 10th August 1927 at St John Lee, Northumberland, he was the fourth child of William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall).

On 6th June 1841 the Census was held. Bennet Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland with his parents William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe and his siblings; Jane Stokoe, Ralph Stokoe, Mary Stokoe, William Stokoe, John Stokoe, Sarah Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe.

On 30th March 1851 the Census was held. Bennet Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland as a lodger with Ann Douken, her niece Francis Jane Waugh and two servants, Dorothy Makepeace and Frances Rickley. Bennet was working as a Gardener.

On 7th April 1861 the Census was held. Bennet Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland with his father William Stokoe, his siblings; Ralph Stokoe, Mary Stokoe, William Stokoe, Sarah Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe, his niece Jane Stokoe and two lodger's, David Dunn and Stewart Fergusson. Bennett was working as a Gardener.

In 1861 Bennet Stokoe married Mary Ridley.

On 2nd April 1871 the Census was held. Bennet Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland with his father-in-law John Ridley and his wife Mary Stokoe (nee Ridley). Bennet was working as a Gardener.

On 3rd April 1881 the Census was held. Bennet Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland with his wife Mary Stokoe (nee Ridley). He was working as a Gardener.

On 5th April 1891 the Census was held. Bennet Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland with his wife Mary Stokoe (nee Ridley). He was working as a Gardener.

In 1899 Mary Stokoe (nee Ridley) died.

On 31st March 1901 the Census was held. Bennet Stokoe was living in Fellside, Northumberland. He was working as a Gardener.

On 2nd April 1911 the Census was held. Bennet Stokoe was living at Lynton House, Waverley Avenue, Northumberland, with his niece Isabella Leadbitter and his brother William Stokoe. Bennet was a Retired Gardener/Old Age Pensioner.

On 6th March 1915 Bennet Stokoe died at Lynton House, Waverley Avenue, Monkseaton, Northumberland.

On 7th April 1915 his will was approved. He left £33 19s 10d to his niece Isabella Leadbitter, which in today's money is about £2,000.

Mary Stokoe c.1825 - 1903

Mary Stokoe was born c.1825 in St John Lee, Northumberland. She was the third child of William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall).

On 6th June 1841 the Census was held. Mary Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland with her parents William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe and her siblings; Jane Stokoe, Ralph Stokoe, Bennet Stokoe, William Stokoe, John Stokoe, Sarah Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe.

On 30th March 1851 the Census was held. Mary Stokoe was living on Hallington Hill, Northumberland with her uncle Philip Maryholl and her cousin Philip Maryholl. Mary was working as a Servant.

On 7th April 1861 the Census was held. Mary Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northuberland with her father William Stokoe, her siblings; Ralph Stokoe, Bennet Stokoe, William Stokoe, Sarah Stokoe, Isabella Stokoe, her niece Jane Leadbitter and a lodger David Dunn. Mary was working as a Dressmaker.

On 5th April 1891 the Census was held. Mary Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland with her brother Ralph Stokoe. Living next door to her was her brother Bennett Stokoe and his wife Mary Stokoe.
