Jane Stokoe was born c.1822 in St John Lee, Northumberland. She was the eldest child of William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall).
On 6th June 1841 the Census was held. Jane Stokoe was living in Sandoe, St John Lee, Hexham, Northumberland. She was living with her parents William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe and her siblings; Ralph Stokoe, Mary Stokoe, Bennet Stokoe, William Stokoe, John Stokoe, Sarah Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe.
On 30th March 1851 the Census was held. Jane Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland. She was living with her parents William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe, her siblings; Ralph Stokoe, William Stokoe, Sarah Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe and a lodger John Pearson. Jane was working as a Seemstress.
In 1853 Jane Stokoe married Matthew Leadbitter. They would go onto have four children; William Leadbitter born 1855, Isabella Leadbitter born 1859, Margaret Leadbitter born 1861 and Mary Teresa Leadbitter born 1864.
On 7th April 1861 the Census was held. Jane Leadbitter (nee Stokoe) was living at Fern Hill, Acomb, Northumberland with her husband Matthew Leadbitter, a Farmer of 297 acres and employing 2 men, their children; William Leadbitter, Isabella Leadbitter and Margaret Leadbitter, her mother Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall) and a Servant John Newton.
On 2nd April 1871 the Census was held. Jane Leadbitter (nee Stokoe) was living in Sandhoe, Northumberland with her husband Matthew Leadbitter, a Retired Farmer, their children; William Leadbitter, Isabella Leadbitter, Margaret Leadbitter, Mary Teresa Leadbitter and a lodger William Leadbitter (possibly the father of Mathew Leadbitter).
On 3rd April 1881 the Census was held. Jane Leadbitter (nee Stokoe) was living at 8 Alexandra Road, Gateshead, Durham with her husband Mathew Leadbitter, now working as a Railway Labourer, their children; Isabella Leadbitter, Margaret Leadbitter, Mary Leadbitter and a lodger Elizabeth Brown a retired Milliner.
On 5th April 1891 the Census was held. Jane Leadbitter (nee Stokoe) was living at 69 Chichester Street, Gateshead, Durham, with her husband Mathew Leadbitter, who was working as a Railway Plate Layer.
On 31st March 1901 the Census was held. Jane Leadbitter (nee Stokoe) was living at 51 Camborn Grove, Gateshead, Durham with her husband Mathew Leadbitter and their daughter Isabella Leadbitter.
In 1907 Jane Leadbitter (nee Stokoe) died in Durham.
