Sarah Stokoe was born c.1835 in St John Lee, Northumberland. She was the seventh child of William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall).
On 6th June 1841 the Census was held. Sarah Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland. She was living with her parents William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall) and her siblings; Jane Stokoe, Ralph Stokoe, Mary Stokoe, Bennet Stokoe, William Stokoe, John Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe.
On 30th March 1851 the Census was held. Sarah Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland. She was living with her parents William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe (nee Marshall), her siblings; Ralph Stokoe, William Stokoe, Jane Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe and a lodger, John Pearson. Sarah was working as a Seamstress.
On 7th April 1861 the Census was held. Sarah Stokoe was living in Sandoe, Northumberland. She was living with her father William Stokoe, her siblings; Ralph Stokoe, Bennet Stokoe, Mary Stokoe, William Stokoe and Isabella Stokoe, her cousin Jane Leadbitter and two lodgers, David Dunn and Stewart Fergusson. Sarah was working as a Dressmaker.
In 1862 Sarah Stokoe married John Scott. They would go onto have two daughters, Isabella Scott born 1864 and Mary J. Scott born 1866.
On 2nd April 1871 the Census was held. Sarah Scott (nee Stokoe) was living in Bensham Dale, Gateshead, Durham. She was living with her husband John Scott and their children, Isabella Scott and Mary Jane Scott.
On 3rd April 1881 the Census was held. Sarah Scott (nee Stokoe) was living in Saltwell Lane, Gateshead, Durham, with her husband John Scott and their daughters Isabella Scott and Mary Jane Scott.
On 5th April 1891 the Census was held. Sarah Scott (nee Stokoe) was living in Bensham Hall Lodge, Gateshead, Durham, with her husband John Scott and their daughters, Isabella Scott and Mary Jane Scott.
In 1900 John Scott died.
On 31st March 1901 the Census was held. Sarah Scott (nee Stokoe) was living at 192 Eastbourne Avenue, Gateshead, Durham. She was living on her own means.
On 2nd April 1911 the Census was held. Sarah Scott (nee Stokoe) was living at 140 Eastbourne Avenue, Gateshead, Durham. She was living with her nephew-in-law Edward Errington, her niece Mary Errington (nee Henderson), her great nieces Isabella Errington and Mary Errington and her great nephew Edward Anderson Errington.
On 30th December 1919 Sarah Scott died at Dale Cottage, Sunnybrow, Durham.
On 9th February 1920 Sarah Scott's will was approved. She left £348 2s 5d, which in today's money is nearly £8,000 to Thomas Scott and John Whitfield, both Coal Miners.
